Architect Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus School after World War I in Weimar, Germany. Its mission was to unite the fields of creativity and craftsmanship in the design of all products. At the school there were master teachers in the areas of architecture, furniture design, painting, typography, textile design, music, sculpture and color, each with the emphasis on functional design. The familiar mottos of "form follow function," "less is more," and "a house is a machine for living" came from the Bauhaus School.
Let's take a look at some truly fascinating styles of interior furniture. The first to be discussed is American furniture. In this kind of furniture you will find three main styles and they are the Antique style, the modern style and the Rustic style. Each of them is unique with the European furniture style influencing the Antique styles and the World War II era influencing the modern style of furniture.
Accent furniture is small in size but very essential to compliment other furniture around the room. For example, it's not enough to have a sofa and TV cabinet in your living room. It requires accent furniture like side tables to hold the table lamps, show pieces, photo frames, etc. Even if you dont have any such decorative items you would still require an accent table to place your TV remote control, coffee mug, books and magazines. Not only the living, but you might need them for other rooms as well.
